When a shop is filled with colourful, curious and wonderfully unexpected things, the signage outside needs to give you a taste of what’s waiting inside.

We worked with Oklahoma, Manchester’s much-loved independent gift and lifestyle store, as part of its refurbishment — producing a new collection of external signage, window graphics and wayfinding designed to complement the shop’s distinctive identity.

Known for its eclectic mix of fun homeware, gifts and lifestyle products from creative independent makers around the world, Oklahoma has never been short on personality.

Our job was to make sure the physical space had plenty of it too.

From Shopfront to Shop Floor

The project brought together several different signage and graphic applications, creating a consistent visual journey from the pavement outside to the store within.

Different surfaces called for different production methods, but everything needed to feel part of the same place: bold, playful and unmistakably Oklahoma.

A Shopfront That Sets the Scene

Great retail signage does more than tell people where you are.

It gets you noticed. Builds recognition. Creates curiosity. And, if it’s doing its job properly, makes people want to see what’s on the other side of the door.

For a store as individual as Oklahoma, simply sticking a name above the entrance was never going to be enough.

Great shop signage doesn’t just tell you where you are — it makes you want to step inside.

The finished graphics helped bring the refurbished space together, carrying Oklahoma’s visual identity from the exterior through to the in-store experience.
